If you can take your eyes off the amazing lifelike body of this magnificent sculpture, you'll notice that David is holding a slingshot in one hand, and a stone in the other. Yes, this captures the moment before the battle with Goliath, it seems...

King David's Tomb (Mount Zion, Jerusalem)
Imagine for a moment that a very old man showed up in your yard claiming that God had sent him, poured oil on your head, and told you that now you were holy. How many seconds would it take before your Mom called the police?
Remember King David? When he was a child, he was just a goatherd who loved to play music and write songs. One day Samuel the Prophet showed up, poured oil on his head, and announced that, from now on, he was a messenger of God. Many people believe that King David is buried in Jerusalem on Mount Zion.
You probably think that King David was important only to the Jews. Wrong! King David's Tomb is a holy site of special significance to the Jews, but also to Christians and Muslims. On site is a synagogue – from the rooftop you can see interesting views of Jerusalem – and a museum of President Ben Tzvi, past president of the State of Israel.
Jerusalem is also indebted to King David for some of its honor as the capital of Israel. David was the King of Israel in biblical times, and it was his decision that Jerusalem would be the capital of the country.
