The tourist city on the coast of the Red Sea at the southern tip of Israel, Eilat is apparently the prettiest, warmest, most exciting tourist city in Israel. There's barely a child in Israel who doesn't dream of driving (or flying) to Eilat, to bathe in the warm waters of the Red Sea on the coast of Eilat, to dive and see coral and reefs and colorful fish, and to hike in all the wonderful hills around Eilat. Eilat has an atmosphere of vacation and fun and pleasure. Because there are so many tourists there from all over the world, it has a little bit of a sense of being somewhere other than Israel.

The coast of Eilat is enchanting, with dolphins, coral, and fish. Anywhere you go with a snorkel you can see things that you won't see on any other coast in Israel. Every evening in Eilat, the boardwalk has the air of a festival – artists selling their wares, a partial amusement park (some of the biggest and scariest contraptions you've ever seen. Everyone gathers just to watch...). Enjoy your vacation!!!

Three facts you didn't know about Eilat:
1. Past names of Eilat: Um Rashrash, and Edom.
2. The moment that the flag of Israel flew over the city of Eilat is considered the moment that the War of Independence (1948 War) concluded, victoriously, for Israel. Because of the war, there wasn't time to make real flags, so the flag that flew over the city was an "Ink Flag," a piece of white cloth with the blue drawn in with ink.
3. Eilat is the southernmost city in Israel. (Ok, maybe you already knew that one...)
